Vogue's 10 Best Dressed Of 2017
HIGH necks, long sleeves, fitted waists and floor-length silhouettes: reading the runes of the "modesty" trend, surely the biggest red carpet sea change enacted in 2017, reveals a simple truth. Baring acres of skin, showing miles of leg, is no longer the default setting for the ingenue seeking to make a splash. While it would be glib to connect this figure-swallowing impulse to the big conversation that will continue to rumble and dominate the awards ceremonies in 2018, surrounding sexual harassment, Hollywood's mega stylists can't ignore the allure of a look that fortifies and energises, rather than indecently exposes. This year, some of our favourite stars have continued to embrace the all-out glamour that has dominated the catwalks, most notably Nicole Kidman, whose legendary love of sequins shows no sign of waning. Then there are the avant-garde dressers who never fail to surprise: Solange, Zoë Kravitz, Rihanna. In between, we've fallen completely for the refreshing vintage-hued vampiness of Ruth Negga, the immaculate Emma Stone, the endlessly fabulous Zendaya, and relative newcomers Claire Foyand Brigitte Macron. In no particular order, here are Vogue's 10 best-dressed stars of 2017.
