An Award Winning Ethiopian Born American Film Maker Appears For The 2nd. Time On WLVS Radio On Ethiopian Christmas
Washington, DC ( Litttle Ethiopia )- Salome Mulugeta, an accomplished filmmaker in pre-production of an academy award screenplay, “Addis Abeka”. Salome is an award-winning Ethiopian-American filmmaker, director, producer, actress and journalist Lima Productions. As we introduced her to our readers last month, Mulugeta's film, Woven, is the first Ethiopian film recognized in the Screen Actors Guild and had its first premiere at the prestigious L.A. Film Festival.
As a result of the screening, Woven received recognition by the judges and was additionally selected to participate in nine other film festivals. Salome will be directing Addis Abeka and the production process is underway. Addis Abeka (winner of the Academy Nicholl Fellowships in Screenwriting- Oscars.org) has its sights set on Viola Davis (Academy Award winner) and Laurence Fishburne (Academy Award nominee) as leads in the film.
The film’s narrative is about a boy who loses his family at the tender age of ten and begins a long quest in search of his brother Addis Abeka . This film is produced by powerhouse Stephanie Allain( Academy Award winner) Homegrownpictures.net known for the film and series Dear White People ( currently filing season 2 for Netflix), award winning Hustle and Flow, Boyz n the Hood and many more.
As a filmmaker, Salome has directed commercials for major brands such as Nike, Coca Cola, Bloomingdales, Ethiopian Airlines, Target and more. Shortly after Woven, she was covered by a number of media outlets including ABC Channel 7, Vibe magazine and Huffington Post.
