Carla Hall of Bravo’s Top Chef and ABC’s The Chew along with Dominique Crenn of San Francisco’s Atelier Crenn with two Michelin stars are cooking at Harlem EatUp!, the festival from Marcus Samuelsson and Herb Karlitz starting May 16 through May 21. Eater is a media sponsor.
Things kick off at the Apollo with an homage to Billie Holiday on May 16, along with a series of Dine In Harlem events at restaurants like Blujeen, where Hall will cook with Lance Knowling, while Crenn joins Angela Dimayuga of Mission Chinese at Ginny’s Supper Club for a private event — both on May 18. Also look for dinners with Michael White (Vaucluse) and Samuelsson, Vinateria owner Yvette Leeper-Bueno and Bill Telepan of Oceana, and more.
Saturday and Sunday from 12:30 to 5:30 p.m. look for culinary demos at Morningside Park with Samuelsson, Brian Washington Palmer (Sexy Taco/Dirty Cash), and Donatella Arpaia (Iron Chef) as well as pay-as-you-go and the marketplace package for $25 to $30 featuring neighborhood restaurants like BLVD Bistro, Chaiwali, Harlem Shake, LoLo’s Seafood Shack, Minton’s, and Red Rooster during the Harlem Stroll. For ambitious diners, there’s a grand tasting option with tickets starting at $85.
Festival proceeds will be donated to Harlem Park to Park and Citymeals-on-Wheels, disbursed by the Harlem EatUp! Foundation.
